Welcome From The President
We invite you to browse our site and learn more about The Hashemite University (HU);
an outstanding academic institution that prides itself in holding the most glorious
name and the dearest to Jordanians' hearts. HU, established in Zarqa Governorate
by a royal decree in June 19, 1991
and commenced in 1995, continues its blessed march towards distinction and excellence
in offering quality education based on the-state-of-the-art techniques and up-to-date
teaching methods instilling the spirit of dialogue and critical thinking.
We are delighted to see HU firm and remarkable progress; while it began with only
3 faculties on campus, it concludes by the beginning of 2007-2008 academic year
with 12 faculties and one institute;
whereas its first in-take was around 600 students, it has jumped now to more than
16 000 joining 49 undergraduate and 24 post-graduate programs run by the different
faculties, including the Faculty of Sciences; Arts; Economic and Administrative
Sciences; Educational Sciences; Engineering; Physical Education and Sport Sciences;
Allied Health Sciences; Natural Resources and Environment; Prince Al-Hussein bin
Abdullah II Faculty for Information Technology; Nursing; Queen Rania Faculty for
Childhood; Faculty of Medicine, and
Queen Rania Institute for Tourism and Heritage.
In addition, HU includes two important deanships: Deanship of Student Affairs in
charge of refining HU student's personality and developing his/her cultural; artistic
and sports talents, and Deanship of Scientific Research and Post-graduate Studies
concerned with providing financial support for faculty members' projects and with
offering and running post-graduate programs.
Pursuant to HU mission of interacting with the local community and meeting its demands,
HU has established 8 academic centers: Computer Center; Center for Studies, Consultations and Community Service; Center for Environmental
Studies; Center for Academic Quality Assurance; Language
Center; Non-Destructive Testing Center; E-Learning Center; and Social Work Center.
These centers aim at steering and employing HU's scientific; human; and financial
resources in serving the local community.
HU is very much keen on offering the educational curricula that induce creative
thinking; stimulate innovation; arm students with sciences, knowledge and skills
crucial for the job market in both Jordan and abroad; and make available the climates
essential for enhancing potentials,
increasing self-confidence and national awareness, and deepening loyalty to the wise Hashemite leadership.
HU is cognizant
of the challenges posed by its high hopes. Yet, inspired by His Majesty King Abdullah
II's vision, it firmly continues to adopt modernity and distinction as two fundamental
constituents of its approaches towards teaching, scientific research and community
service.
