The Services Department consists of
the following sections:
- Transportation section.
- Buildings and Cleaning Section.
- Catering Section.
- Planting Section.
- Tele-Communication Section.
The Security Section has been cancelled due to its services being assigned to “The
Middle East Security Company” through the tender No 48/99, effective from 4/5/2000.
Principal Tasks of the Services Department
To provide both academic and administrative
personnel with transportation from ‘Amman,
‘ Irbid and Mafraq to the University, throughout the year. Vehicles are also provided
to enable academic staff to attend conferences, seminars and other activities held
outside the University; and for students recreational and field trips.
To provide catering services for academic
and administrative staff, and for students, through two refectories, one for University
personnel, the other for students. Two cafeterias also cater for students. The University’s
Catering Services also provide in its upper floor lounge luncheons and light refreshment
receptions for University guests and participants in various activities organized
by the University. The University’s refectories, cafeterias and VIP lounge also
offer training in catering for first year students/ Food Production Section/ at
the
Institute of Vocational Training
, with trainees receiving a monthly allowance.
Supervision of the University’s buildings
and their cleaning and maintenance services, and the reservation of the University’s
auditoriums for any activities that may take place.
The provision of telephone services,
both internal and external. The University’s Telephone Exchange has been expanded
by 480 internal lines at a cost of JD 56,000. Total internal telephone lines now
add up to 752, only 550 of which are currently in use.
Planting in the University Campus;
laying out of new sites in preparation for future planting, scheduling irrigation
and water-sprinkling procedures, and the undertaking of botanical check-ups on trees
and other forms of vegetation in the University campus. The
Plantation
section has reclaimed the hill adjoining the Eastern water reservoir, and has planted
apple trees and cactus on the Campus’s northern slopes. 350 donums have been planted
with both forest and fruit-bearing trees; with 3000 olive and 1500 forest treelets
planted in this area.
Direct supervision and follow-up of the security tender won by the “Middle-East
Security Company”, whose duties include guarding University buildings and facilities
and principal University entrances, and maintaining public order within the University
Campus. |
