The Department was established in 1992 as a Secretary for the University Special Royal Commission (The Board of Trustees). In 1995, it was assigned the responsibilities of The Deans Council and Council of the University. It became an independent department in 1998 connected directly to the President. It aims at accomplishing the tasks of the following

Department message:

The Department is primarily concerned with implementation of academic and administrative tasks falling within the responsibilities of aforementioned Councils.
More specifically, it lends itself to:

Drawing University general policies and up-grading the level of public services in education, training, and scientific research.

Establishing, integrating or canceling faculties, departments and programs in addition to initiation of professorships chairs.

Specifying the student numbers and tuition fees

Appointing, recruiting faculty members and teaching and research assistants.

Transferring, promoting, deputing, granting leaves and tenure and evaluating works of faculty members & etc.

Scholarships, scientific tasks and training courses.

Discussing study plan projects in all academic fields.

Supporting the scientific research.

Granting scientific degrees.

Discussing and issuing projects of rules and regulations.

Endorsing development plans and projects of the budget, final statements and financial reports.
