The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hashemite University congratulates The Hashemite University's administration, the university councils, professors and students for this distinguished success in welcoming the first class to the Faculty of Dentistry this year 2024.

In continuation of the series of medical colleges at the Hashemite University, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Hashemite University, His Excellency Dr. Yassin Al-Husban, opened the third college of dentistry at the level of Jordanian governmental universities. He said during the opening that “The opening of the College of Dentistry at the Hashemite University coincides with the Kingdom’s celebrations of his Majesty King Abdullah’s 62nd birthday today, the eldest son of His Majesty the late King Hussein. The goal of the previous and current Board of Trustees, from day one, was to complete the series in the system of medical colleges, where the university has the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Allied Medical Sciences, and today despite all the difficulties we faced, the goal was to found the college of Dentistry, adding that "from the bottom of my heart I hope that this college would be so distinguished and distinct with its competent graduates, benefiting  the people of the cities of Zarqa, Mafraq, Jerash, and the northern and central Badia, where there are no official universities offering the dentistry majors."

Dr. Alhusban extended, on his behalf, the members of the Board of Trustees' thanks and appreciation for all the exceptional efforts and in record time made by the university administration, the university  councils and their specialized committees, the founding council of the college, and the technical and academic committees, as everyone was racing against time to do the best in terms of the necessary buildings, scientific laboratories, technical equipment, and classroom halls equipped with the latest equipments, Modern technology, in addition to the sponsored academic scholarships for obtaining degrees in specific dentistry majors.

 

The opening was attended by the President of the Hashemite University, Professor Dr. Fawwaz Al-Abdul Haq Al-Zboun, the Vice-Presidents of the Hashemite University, a number of presidents of Jordanian universities, the deans of dental faculties in Jordanian universities, and a number of members of the Board of Trustees of the Hashemite University.The President of the Hashemite University said: “With the opening of the College of Dentistry, the Hashemite University continues the series of medical colleges, which have been provided with distinguished Jordanian competencies in the medical fields. The College of Dentistry is also distinguished by being a modern college that focuses on preparing students with the best expertise, and has advanced classrooms and laboratories with the latest modern equipment in The field of dentistry.

Dr. Al-Zaboun added: “The Hashemite University has taken all standard measures to establish the College of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery and has facilitated all the steps and paths for this achievement administratively, logistically, academically and technically, to achieve all the requirements for establishing the college in accordance with the required standards necessary to obtain the final license.  The university has provided all academic, administrative, financial, laboratory and teaching facilities and other requirements needed for establishing the college approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Prof. Al-Zboun said: “This year, the College of Dentistry at the Hashemite University received the first batch of college students. The college offers a bachelor’s program in oral and dental medicine and surgery with a study plan that includes 210 credit hours distributed over five academic years.  Through its programs and the competence of its faculty members, the college keeps pace with  the latest international study plans and modern equipments that focus on empowering and preparing students with the best possible educational and training experiences.

 

The Dean of the College of Dentistry, Professor Dr. Ziad Al-Duwairi, said: “The College of Dentistry at the Hashemite University is a national and modern project which is distinguished by its geographical location in the central region to receive students and provide dental health care services in all dental specialties, especially in the Zarqa and Mafraq governorates. The study plan has been prepared in a way that keeps pace with The latest study plans approved by the most prestigious universities, which are in line with the latest modern technologies in dentistry. The pre-clinical building has also been equipped with the latest laboratory equipment and has an area of (9) thousand square meters.
